LIGHTHOUSE Baptist Church has a big heart. Many times the missionary trips, the bus service, community outreach, the home school like academy and marriage retreats, take precedence over the building fund. As a result the plans are in place and each project proceeds with funding.

THE MASTER PLAN:

Each of these projects are based to be built as funds allow.

EDUCATION WING:
6,000 sq ft. We designed the education wing in 1996 along with the Lighthouse tower. The addition includes a fellowship hall, classrooms, offices and nursery. The tower contains a broadcasting station at the top. The large expanse of south roof is planned for solar collectors.

LIGHTHOUSE BAPTIST ACADEMY:
6400 sq ft.  Wood frame, wood siding, and metal roof.

Lighthouse Baptist Academy is a small private school. Designed in 1999, it is modeled after the one-room schoolhouse complete with school bell on top. The building has 10 classrooms, offices and general assembly room. The Academy is scaled like a house in keeping with the small pupil-teacher ratio. As the school grows, subsequent schoolhouses can be added to the campus. The Master Plan shows two facing each other on each side of a pedestrian path.

NEW CHURCH AUDITORIUM:
(pending construction)
16,000 sq ft. Steel frame, Glulam wood beams and Masonry with metal roof.

The New Auditorium seats 800. The stage includes a 50 person choir plus instruments. Behind the pulpit is an elevated baptistery lit by the east facing skylight tower. The Auditorium is 6000 sq ft.

The design is composed of a central focus core that features the pulpit, choir and baptistery which is the spiritual as well as structural core of the building. The elegant wood Microlam beams radiate from the core supporting the roof and allows for fan shaped seating which provides maximum capacity and unobstructed views of the alter. A cross formed by glass block shines on the wall above. The building is designed to be able to expand to double capacity with minimal disturbance to the core. The wood beams are designed to expand like bird wings as shown in the Master plan.

The two story foyer is split level and flows from the grand foyer with a curved ramp down to a side entry that connects directly to all classrooms and administrative elements of the church. The nursery is located next to the foyer for easy access. The large senior meeting room is enclosed by a curved glass block wall. A short flight of stairs takes you up to the 2000 sq ft. Fellowship Hall. A pyramid skylight brightens this space.

Downstairs, a covered two-story walkway connects to the current auditorium. The present church will be renovated into extra classroom space simply by installing a new barrel vaulted roof lined with clerestory windows. This will allow a lot of natural light with minimal impact on the existing structure.

The new building is positioned in relationship to the existing to form a courtyard that can easily be transformed into usable space with the use of a tent roof for the special events the church holds six times a year. This space also provides special parking for the rest of the year.
