Multipurpose Center | Dollar General
These two buildings were designed at Tony Sudekum Homes on Lafayette in Nashville. The Multipurpose Center is actually a renovated muffler shop we doubled in size. The high-schooler's at Tony Sudekum attend school across the street at Cameron Middle School. In site planning the two buildings we created a pedestrian street that could connect the backyard of the projects with the High School. By taking the greasy muffler shop out of the picture we were able to make a colorful contribution to the neighborhood. The center is a business-training place to help create jobs for those living in the projects. Once trained they can work as managers of the Dollar General Store next door. We lobbied for a streetlight at the intersection of Lafayette and the pedestrian street. The Center also has small storefronts and a police station.
